Some experiences remind you that you are exactly where you are supposed to be, even when you don't fully understand why you arrived there at the time you did.
Morgan State University Homecoming 2026 was more than a homecoming for me. It was a beautiful reminder of the connections, relationships, and experiences that make this journey so meaningful.
From reconnecting with current educators, catching up with friends I hadn't seen in ages, meeting new colleagues, and running into educators from different chapters of my journey, I was reminded of just how interconnected our paths can be. Some people represent where you are now, some remind you of where you've been, and others give you a glimpse of the people and opportunities still ahead of you.
As I reflect on this experience, one thing continues to stand out I am so glad Morgan chose me, and I am especially grateful that it chose me when it did.
Sometimes, the timing of an opportunity doesn't make sense until you are living through it. We can spend so much time wondering why certain doors open when they do, not realizing timing matters as much as the opportunity itself. Looking back, I can appreciate that my journey brought me here at a time when I could receive, recognize, and grow from everything this experience has to offer.
Morgan is giving me more than an education. It is creating space for meaningful connections, new perspectives, professional growth, and opportunities to reconnect with parts of my journey that have helped shape the educator and social worker I am becoming.
This Homecoming reminded me that sometimes, coming home is about more than returning to a place. It's about recognizing how much you've grown, appreciating the people who have been part of your journey, and feeling grateful for the people you are still becoming.
To the familiar faces, the unexpected reunions, the new connections, and the community that continues to make this journey special: thank you.
